fraught /frɔːt/ [adj] filled with distress/something unpleasant 困難な、悲惨な; fraught with(危険などを)伴って/はらんで

A situation fraught with danger/difficulty/problems
She looked fraught.
There was a fraught silence.
Our family party at Christmas was fraught with awkwardness.
Harry and I met not in propitious circumstances to say the least, so our relationship was fraught from the start and didn't last long.


exult /ɪɡˈzʌlt/ [v] (at / in something) : to feel and show that you are very excited and happy because of something that has happened 歓喜する、勝ち誇る

He learned back, exulting at the success of his plan.
"We won", she exulted.


enigma /ɪˈnɪɡmə/ [n] : a person/thing/situation that is mysterious and difficult to understand 不可解なもの、こと、人

Even after years, he still remains an enigma to me.


attest /əˈtest/ [v] to certify 証明する

promulgate /ˈprɒmlɡeɪt/ [v] 1) to spread an idea/belief 広める、普及させる; 2) to announce a new law or system officially or publicly 公布する、公表する

ちなみに。enigmaとexultの発音を比べていてふと思ったのですが、アメリカの発音の/I/って比較的「エ」に近いような感じがします。イギリス英語では「イ」に限りなく近く、enigmaは「イニグマ」。文字通り読んでしまう私はたいてい/I/を/e/で発音していて外人丸出しです、はい。
